Prof. Dave Winkler

President
Winkler is a computational chemist with strong research interests in the interaction of matter and biology, holds B.Sc. in chemistry, chemical engineering (Monash), physics (RMIT), and a Ph.D. in chemical physics and radioastronomy (Monash). He was a chief research scientist at CSIRO for 30 years, visiting fellow at Oxford and Kyoto Universities, Imperial College London, and the University of Calgary. He published about 250 research papers, book chapters, and 25 patents. He is currently a chemistry and physics professor at the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science, Adjunct Professor at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, visiting Professor in pharmacy at the University of Nottingham, and a Fellow in evolutionary robotics at CSIRO Data61. He provided key IP for three startup companies – Betabiotics, Asymmetrex, and Vectus Biosystem. He is a past President of the Asian Federation for Medicinal Chemistry, served on Boards of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, Science & Technology Australia, and is a member of the Australian Academy of Science’s National Committee for Chemistry. He received the Herman Skolnik award from the ACS, Distinguished Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), and the RACI’s Adrien Albert Award.

Prof. Reuben Jih-Ru Hwu

Reuben Jih-Ru Hwu is a Distinguished Chair Professor at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. He obtained a Ph.D. degree from Stanford University (1978–1982), served as a professor at Johns Hopkins University (1982–91), Academia Sinica, and National Central University. He published over 225 research articles and 50 patents on new synthetic methods and reagents, drug design and synthesis, and nano-biomaterials for drug delivery. He was President of the Asian Federation for Medicinal Chemistry (2012­–13), President of the Chinese American Chemical Society USA (1991–93), and Dean of College of Science, National Central University (2007–10). He is a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (2019–), Fellow of The Royal Society of Chemistry (2005–), Fellow of IUPAC (2000–), and Fellow of The Third World Academy of Sciences (1999–). He received the Third World Academy of Sciences Award, Nano Industrial Technology Excellence Award, National Biotech and Medical Care Quality Award, Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow Award USA, National Academic Research Innovation Award, Japan Ming-Yu-Wen-Hwa Award, FACS 1993 Distinguished Young Chemist Award, and The Outstanding Young Persons of the World for 1994.

Prof. Dr. Md. Wahab Khan

Dr. Khan became Professor in 2003 in the Department of Chemistry, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka-1000, Bangladesh. He has supervised 5 Ph.D., 6 M.Sc., and 32 M.Phil. students. His research interest focuses on synthesizing heterocyclic compounds through metal-mediated reactions, nanoparticle catalyst synthesis, and synthesis of polymer composites and ionic liquids. He is National Representative of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry Division III of IUPAC), Fellow of IUPAC, Former Secretary-General of FACS, and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Chemical Society. He was also the convener of the Bangladesh Chemistry Olympiad and Scientific Observer of IChO. He has been a visiting Professor in International University Technology (IUT), Bangladesh University of Professional (BUP) and Military Institute of Technology (MIST) and President of the Chemistry Departmental Committee, Bangladesh Standard and Testing (BSTI).
