Message of the FACS President
Dear Members of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS),
It is my great honor to extend my warm greetings to all member societies across our Federation—32 chemical societies representing the diversity, strength, and shared aspirations of the Asia–Pacific scientific community. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your continued commitment to advancing chemistry for the benefit of society.
As we begin this new term, I am inspired by the collective expertise and dedication within our Federation. Together, we have a remarkable opportunity to strengthen academic excellence, promote scientific integrity, and expand cross-border collaboration. Chemistry lies at the heart of many global challenges and opportunities—sustainability, energy transition, health, materials innovation—and our shared efforts are essential to shaping a responsible and science-informed future.
FACS remains committed to supporting its member societies in driving:
•High-quality scientific activities that strengthen research, education, and innovation throughout the region.
• Regional and international collaboration, enabling scientists, educators, and students to work together, exchange knowledge, and build networks that transcend national boundaries.
• Public awareness of chemistry, emphasizing its importance in daily life and its critical role in addressing global issues with responsibility, ethics, and societal impact.
• Development of the next generation, empowering young chemists with opportunities, mentorship, and platforms to prepare them for a rapidly changing world.
Looking ahead, we will continue to work with unity, transparency, and a shared purpose to ensure that FACS remains a dynamic and influential force in advancing chemistry in the Asia–Pacific region. I encourage all member societies to actively engage, share ideas, and collaborate closely as we build a stronger regional community.
Together, we can elevate the visibility, impact, and relevance of chemistry—both within our scientific community and across society at large.
I look forward to working with all of you and to a productive and inspiring term ahead.
Prof. Supa Hannongbua
President, Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS) (2025-2027)
